Vanessa Walsh

Vanessa Walsh, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Vanessa Walsh, 34, of Oceanside, California, was granted her angel wings on June 5, 2020, leaving peacefully while at Allied Hospice Center after a long battle with cancer. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Vanessa had touched in some small way, throughout her short, yet very memorable life.

Vanessa's life would seem short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile and kind heart were shared with many, as she lived her life each day to the fullest, enjoying always the present moment.

Although small in stature, she gave us all such courage and hope, while reminding us of the preciousness of life. She enjoyed visiting the beautiful California beaches, and taking her dogs Shelby and Bruno to the beach and numerous dog parks, and while sharing moments, visiting with close friends and family.

Born Nov. 26, 1985, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of attorney Kurt Walsh and Paula Walsh. She grew up a multi-sport athlete, later competing in basketball, tennis and track at Bishop Hannan High School. Vanessa continued to play tennis at Kutztown University. At Kutztown, she joined the Delta Zeta sorority, where she met a group of incredible friends who have brought her fun and joy, as well as normalcy while undergoing treatment. After graduating from Kutztown University, she resided in Southern California for 12 years with her husband, Tom Wolfe, and beloved dogs.

Vanessa had an incredible ability to see the beauty in everyone. She was able to show people the light inside of them which they could not see themselves. This was evident in her choice of employment at Express Clothing Company, Oceanside Dentistry and Sephora.

Her beautiful smile, fun loving spirit, and courage will long be remembered. She leaves behind her mother, Paula; and father, Kurt, his fiancée, Linda Naro; and her brothers, Kurt Christopher Walsh and Brandon Walsh; and sister, Sarah Walsh; aunts, uncles, many cousins and countless friends who will miss her.

The Walsh family is immensely grateful to all those who cared for her so lovingly at Penn Medicine, especially Dr. Pallavi Kumar, Dr. Robert Roses and his assistant Caitlyn Brown, at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Dr. Tony Reid and Dr. Rebekah White at UC San Diego Medical Center, the nursing staff at UCLA Santa Monica Campus, and Dr. Lisa Thomas at the Hematology & Oncology Associates of Northeast Pennsylvania.

Due to the current restrictions, a private family service will take place. Arrangements, Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA 18505.
