Janet Kirchner, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Janet A. Kirchner, 83, of Moosic, died Monday evening at Allied Services Hospice Center. She was the widow of Robert Kirchner, who died in 2005.

Born in Scranton on June 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice Best Maloney. A member of Divine Mercy Parish, Janet was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and later the Scranton State General Hospital School of Nursing, where she then worked as a R.N.

Janet was devoted to her family and deeply loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Nanny." She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Janet is survived by her four children: Robert Kirchner and wife, Leslie; Sharon Albert, her caregiver; William Kirchner, and Karen Tullio and husband, Allen; nine grandchildren: Kelly and Joshua Kirchner; Katrina, Korin and Rebecca Albert; Geanna and Matthew Kirchner; and Kyle and Morgan Tullio; three great-grandchildren: Lily, Grace and Zander Giguere; five siblings: Alice Teserovitch and husband, John; James Maloney and wife, Connie; Robert Maloney and wife, Mary Lou; Joseph Maloney and wife, Kathy; and Thomas Maloney; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Walter "Buddy" Maloney and John "Jack" Maloney.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allied Services Hospice Center for the extraordinary care they provided during her final weeks.

The funeral will be Saturday with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 312 Davis St., celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery. The family requests that those attending the funeral mass proceed directly to the church.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton.
