James Thomas Maloney, 61, of San Diego, died Friday, Oct. 29, at home. Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late James and Helen Maloney Griffiths. His partner, Wally Zoppa, died in 2013.
A graduate of Marywood University (his mother Helen was a Marywood alumni as well), Jim worked for the Navy, Department of Defense, as a cost analyst before retirement.
Jim was a beloved brother and uncle, who enjoyed his Irish heritage, cooking and traveling. He also loved animals. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his siblings, Judie Reinhart and husband, Fred, and their sons, Michael and Colin (Hannah), all of Thornton, Colo.; John Griffiths and wife, Linda, Moosic; and Sally Griffiths and husband, Mark, and their children, Melissa (Jeff) and Eric (Anna).
In accordance with his wishes, he has been cremated. Friends and family may call Friday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to noon at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton, PA 18505.
