Philip Gallagher, Pre-arranged Funerals, Neil Regan Funeral Home, Scranton, PA

Philip F. Gallagher, 93, a resident of Clarks Summit Senior Living and formerly of Moosic and Scranton, passed away on Dec. 25, 2021 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His beloved wife of 60 years, Mary (Henry) Gallagher, passed away in 2019.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Philip and Anna (Langan) Gallagher, and was a member of St. John Neumann Parish at Nativity of Our Lord Church. After graduating from St. Johns High School he enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas as part of the allied occupation of Japan. After his discharge he joined the Army Reserves and was called back to duty during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and was proud of his service.

Before retirement Philip was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (Electronic Systems Technician). He was an avid sports fan, especially of Penn State and the Boston Red Sox.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Gallagher of Conshohocken; Philip Gallagher and wife, Valerie, of South Abington Twp.; a daughter, Erin Loucks and husband, David, of South Abington Twp.; six grandchildren to whom he was known as Papa, Bud, Meghan, Brian, Mary Kate, Julia, Clare and Courtney; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Filomena; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Mooty and Margaret Campbell; and by his brother, Thomas Gallagher.

The funeral will be Thursday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Parish at Nativity of Our Lord Church, followed by interment at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 before Mass Thursday at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton.
