Charles J. Wright, 69, of Scranton, formerly of Levittown, died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center's Trauma Unit due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. His wife is the former Nina Renzini.

Born in Athens, Ga., son of the late Charles L. and Catherine Koval Wright, he graduated from Bishop Egan High School in Levittown, where he played football and held the kicking record, earning a football scholarship to Vanderbilt University. Before retirement, he was a parts manager at Sherwood Freightliner.

Chuck was the number one fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. His generosity extends beyond his life as he was a donor so that others may see through the Gift of Life.

He is also survived by two sons, Charles A. and Jeffrey J. Wright, both of Los Angeles; two daughters, Crystal Swindell, Bellhaven, N.C.; and Heather Walsh-Thomas and wife, Olivia, Olyphant; four sisters, Ann Marie and husband, Stephen Fonash, Montdale; Theresa and husband, Fred Conrad, South Gibson; Patricia and husband, Stephen Hess, Easton; and Nanci Wright, Minooka; brother in-law, James Wright, Nicholson; two granddaughters, Maggie and Abby Swindell; and numerous nieces and nephews who thought of him as a legend.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Cerar Wright; and a sister, Barbara Wright.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 312 Davis St., by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor.

Friends may call one hour prior to mass at the church, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Arrangements, Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton.
